Breast Reconstruction: Is it for me?

Breast Reconstruction DVD coverMater Private Breast Care Nurse Sally Graham, in conjunction with Cancer Council Queensland, has developed a DVD aimed to provide information for women considering breast reconstruction after breast cancer surgery.

In the DVD women tell their personal stories and share their experiences to help others arrive at a decision that is right for them. Women discuss the reasons behind their decisions and specialist surgeons provide information about the medical issues involved. The content of the DVD also incorporates tram flap reconstruction, tissue expander and implants, nipple reconstruction and tattooing of the nipple. In addition, information is provided about external breast prosthesis and personal perspectives about choosing the nonsurgical approach.

Sally Graham has been instrumental in the development of this DVD; approaching surgeons at Mater Private Hospital Brisbane to participate in the production and compilation of the DVD. This would only have been possible with the generous sponsorship of Cancer Council Queensland and the kind assistance of the John Christopher Pascoe Memorial Trust.

This educational and informative DVD can be obtained from Mater Private Breast Cancer Centre by telephoning 07 3163 1166 or from Cancer Council Helpline on 13 11 20.
